The best thing about living in Jo’burg is being able to go to all the flea markets! As one of my friends puts it, markets are my love language! I don’t even need to buy anything, i’m happy to just browse around with a cup of coffee!
One of my favorite thing’s i’ve bought from a flea market, is this collection of Edith Piaf records …
I was first introduced to this wonderful French singer during the year i au paired in the Hamptons. Emma, my “host mother” was a big fan, and it didn’t take me long to become obsessed with her voice and her music. She’s most popular for her song “La Vie en Rose”, which is also the name of the biographical film about her life starring Marion Cotillard (who i’m also obsessed with).
I was so excited when i saw these records, i just had to have them, even though i don’t have a record player 😦 One day i will though! And i think listening to her on a crackling record will only add more to the romance and sentiment of her music.
If you haven’t heard her music before, here’s a video of my FAVORITE song: Sous Le Ciel de Paris
